O Licence Checklist

GOODS VEHICLES

Any goods vehicles over 3500kgs GVW to be used in connection with your business (for commercial gain) MUST be covered by a GOODS VEHICLE OPERATORS LICENCE.

There are three types of licence: (1) Restricted - For carriage of your own goods UK & International (2) Standard National - For the carriage of goods for “Hire & Reward” within the UK Only. (3) Standard International - For carriage of goods for “Hire & Reward” both within the UK & Internationally.

To obtain a licence, there are certain criteria you MUST meet:

(a) Have a CPC Holder (Not required for Restricted) (b) Demonstrate that you have adequate financial resourses (c) Have a suitable Operating Centre (d) Place an advert within a local paper (e) Have suitable provisions in place for Servicing/maintainance of your vehicles, and an agreement drawn up with any subcontractor (f) Complete the appropriate forms (g) Company & Transport Manager to be of good repute.

Financial

You MUST be able to show the following available funds, to obtain an Operators Licence:

  • For 1st Authorised Vehicle £6200
  • Thereafter for each additional Vehicle £3400

Therefore if you wished to apply for a licence for 5x Goods Vehicles, you would need to be able to show £19800 in available funds (4x £3400 + £6200 = £19800)

Application Fee £227.00

Interim Fee £60.00 + Vchl Disc Fee (£12 Each)

Application Grant £354.00 + Vchl Disc Fee (£180 each)
